Missing worker found dead

CHATTOGRAM: Police recovered the body of a missing worker who was killed after an oil tanker explosion on the South Bank of river Karnaphuli on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam Saddam, 30, son of Abul Hashem of Karnaphuli upazila in the district.

With this, two workers were killed and one was injured in the accident occurred at ‘OT Ocean’ oil tanker on Wednesday evening.

ABM Mizanur Rahman, officer in-charge Sadarghat River Police Station, said they recovered the body of Nazrul from Bridge Ghat area at around 11:00am.

They sent the body to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue, he said.

Mentionable, the oil tanker exploded while workers were wielding at a engine room in Leburghat area beside the South Bank of Karnaphuli at around 8:00pm.

The explosion left one worker identified as Md Jishan, 21, dead on the spot.

Few workers, including Nazrul, jumped into the river to avert casualty at that time.

 Nazrul remained missing since then.
