‘Drug peddler’ killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight

COX’S BAZAR: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Ukhiya upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam.

Commanding officer Wing Commander Azim Ahmed revealed this on Thursday saying a RAB-15 team raided the Jaliapalong area in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar district around 8:00 pm.

“When the elite force confronted the alleged drug peddler, he opened fire in a bid to escape, but was killed in retaliatory firing by the RAB team,” he said.

The RAB personnel seized 10,000 pieces of Yaba, a revolver and three bullets from the possession of the deceased.
