RMCH sees lowest corona death this month

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded one more fatality at its corona unit in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on Thursday, raising the death toll to 141 so far this month.

The second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back. However, the previous day’s death figure was eight. Earlier, the number of casualties was 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shameem Yazdany told newsmen that the lone female deceased was the resident of Naogaon district. She was undergoing treatment in the unit with symptoms of corona, he said.

Sixteen more patients were admitted to the designated corona wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of admitted patients to 113.

Twenty-two other patients returned home from the RMCH corona unit after being cured during the time.

Meanwhile, 14 more people tested positive after testing 328 samples in Rajshahi’s two laboratories on Wednesday, showing a 4.26 percent positivity rate against 7.45 percent on Tuesday.
