Korea donates Taekwondo equipment to BTF

South Korea has donated 190 Taekwondo equipment to Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF).

 The equipment includes 40 sets of headgears, body protectors, arm guards and leg guards each as well as 30 sets of kicking paddles.

A handover ceremony of the equipment was held at the National Sports Complex of Bangladesh on Wednesday in the presence of Korean Ambassador Lee Jang-keun, BTF President Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, its Secretary General Mahmudul Islam Rana, and Korean Taekwondo Grand Master Lee Ju-sang, said the Korean Embassy in Dhaka

Stating that Taekwondo is not only sports but also martial art learned by elite soldiers, policemen and border guards contributing to the security of Bangladesh, Ambassador Lee said Taekwondo has been playing an important role in the promotion of Korea-Bangladesh ties.

Lee also said in the unprecedented difficult time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Taekwondo is helping young people to guard themselves against the virus both physically and mentally.

The number of people practicing Taekwondo in Bangladesh has been continuously growing during the past decades and now around 9000 people are learning and practicing at 56 Do-jangs or Taekwondo clubs across the country constantly producing medalists at major regional and world sports events.
