A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued a production warrant asking the prison authorities to produce detained expelled president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo League, Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat before the court on October 25 in a graft case.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Emrul Kayesh passed the order as the jail authorities failed to produce the accused before the court on the day, making the court defer the date for holding the hearing on accepting the charge sheet.
Following his arrest, Samrat was expelled from the youth front of ruling Awami League. RAB, later, conducted a raid on Samrat’s office in Kakrail's Bhuiyan Trade Centre in the capital and recovered a foreign pistol, 1,160 Yaba tablets, 19 bottles of foreign liquor, two kangaroo hides, and 'electrical torture equipment.'
Two cases were also filed against Samrat under The Narcotics Control Act and The Arms Act at Ramna police station. A RAB mobile court also sentenced Samrat and Arman to six months each in prison for wildlife law violations and drunkenness respectively.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also filed two cases against them on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
