Popular News

Today is the 89th death anniversary of Pritilata Waddedar, the first woman who embraced martyrdom for the sake of country’s liberation from British rule in 1932.

Born in Chattogram in 1911, Pritilata was an anti-British revolutionary in the then East Bengal, now Bangladesh.

To mark the day, different organisations will hold various programmes including placing wreaths on the portrait of Pritilata, lighting candles and holding discussion.

Birkanya Pritilata Trust will place a wreath at the portrait of Pritilata on the premises of Pritilata Complex Auditorium at Dhalghat village under Patiya upazila, the birth place of the revolutionary nationalist woman.

Besides, leaders of Samajtantrik Mohila Forum, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front and Chattogram chapter of Charon Sangskritik Kendra, Mostafa Hakim College will also place wreaths at the bust of Pritilata at European Club, now Pahartali Divisional Railway Office, in the morning.
