A total of 229 more people were hospitalised with dengue infections in the country till Wednesday morning.

There is no let up in increasing trend of the dengue infection cases and casualty as already over 6,000 dengue patients were hospitalised in September.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 229 more dengue patients were hospitalised and no death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

It said 6,095 dengue patients were hospitalised in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in the last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 13 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 176 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 53 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday.

A total of 819 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 199 outside the city, it said.

The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 59 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added. The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least 70 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 16,451 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until September 22 this year.

So far, 15,374 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
