Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said the capital markets will soon appear as the key source of long-term financing in Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while addressing the first investment summit and road show on Bangladesh capital markets as the chief guest.

The event was organized by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at a hotel in Zurich, Switzerland.

The theme of the event was "The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Trade and Investment in Bangladesh".

This aimed showcase investment opportunities in the capital markets of Bangladesh to the expatriate Bangladeshis and foreign, especially Swiss investors, in the development of the capital markets of Bangladesh.

Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard, BSEC chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam were also present at the event.

Land minister said, “If you look at macro-economy and micro economy of Bangladesh, I think we are quite well balanced. We are heading towards the right direction.”

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina we have been able to bring Bangladesh into a certain level of development,” he said.

Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said, “There is a wind of change in Bangladesh. You’ll see it, you’ll feel it once you’re there and once you invest in there. The growth is led by private sector.”

“Bangladesh is a country with political stability for a decade where you can rely on. And our economy is doing great during this time.”

Swiss ambassador said Bangladesh is a fast growing economy and its 168 million people, mostly young populations, are talented entrepreneurs.

BSEC chairman said, “We have a trained and educated labor force, we have a very business-friendly government, we have a favorable environment.”
