Police arrested the proprietor and publisher of Al Rihab Publications for his alleged connection with militancy.

A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police held Habibur Rahman alias Shamim, 32, from his publications at Islamia Market in Banglabazar in Old Dhaka on Saturday.

Mohammad Aslam Khan, superintendent of police (media and awareness) of the ATU, revealed this to the Daily Sun on Sunday.

They arrested Kawser Ahmed Milon and Jahid Mostafa, members of Ansar Al Islam, also known as Ansarullah Bangla Team, from Muktagacha in Mymensingh on September 16, he said.

The information extracted from the duo helped the policemen arrest Shamim. “He published some books of militant leader Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani and sold those. He maintains a good relationship with a number of leaders of the Ansar Al Islam,” he said.

He added that Shamim also circulated contents bearing dogma of radicalism on social media.
