241 more hospitalised with dengue

A total of 241 more people were hospitalised with dengue infections across the country during the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

The number of dengue infected patients has been increasing day by day in the country particularly in Dhaka city as the number of dengue cases has reached 5,345 in September this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 241 more dengue patients were hospitalised and no death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

It said 5,345 dengue patients were hospitalized in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 13 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 184 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 57 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday.

A total of 900 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 207 outside the city, it said. The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 59 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least 70 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 15,701 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until September 19 this year.

So far, 14,535 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
