Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza is gearing up to feature in the upcoming domestic season.

The right-arm pace bowler came to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium’s academy premises early on Friday morning to have a running session while he also visited the SBNS with his children on Saturday afternoon.

Mashrafe, who last played in Bangabandhu T20 Cup last year, had been working on his weight for quite some time and he lost his weight to 80kg from 98kg in recent days that showed his desperation to return to competitive cricket.

It was learnt that Mashrafe is regularly working out in the City Club ground as well as in a field near to his house in Mirpur.

According to sources, Mashrafe is thinking of taking part in one or two rounds of the National Cricket League, scheduled from October 15, if everything goes according to plan.

If he doesn’t feature in the NCL, he’s trying to make him available for the next edition of BPL T20 and Dhaka Premier League, the country’s traditional 50-over club tournament.

The BPL and DPL are slated respectively in January and March next year.
