Eight more corona deaths at RMCH

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) counted eight more fatalities at its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on Saturday, taking the death toll to 116 so far this month.

The previous day's death figure in the unit was five. Earlier, the number of casualties was 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that three of the deceased were the residents of Rajshahi while other three were from Natore and one each from Chapainawabganj and Kushtia districts.

"Of the fresh fatalities, two tested positive for Covid-19 and six others had symptoms," he said.

Twenty five more patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of admitted patients to 128, including 34 positive cases.

Seven other patients returned home from the RMCH Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.

Yazdani said 19 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 259 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Friday, showing 6.67 percent positivity rate against 5.5 percent on Thursday.
