BASIS contributes to build digital Bangladesh: Speakers

Speakers at a meeting on Saturday highlighted the contribution of BASIS on the path to build a digital Bangladesh.

They made the remark at the BASIS’ 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday at RAOWA Convention Centre at Mohakhali in the capital, said a press release.

During the meeting, they also urged to prepare the nation for the Fifth Industrial Revolution besides facing the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution from now. 

Speakers also highlighted strengthening the role of BASIS at national and international level, ensuring priority of Bangladeshi software companies in government projects, involving local companies in importing hardware and software from abroad and persuading the government to meet the conditions of production locally, enhancing industry research and strengthening BASIS Secretariat.

BASIS president Syed Almas Kabir presided over the AGM while BASIS Vice President (Admin) Shoeb Ahmed Masud presented the key note papers.

BASIS Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman presented the audit report for the year 2019-2020.

A significant number of members took part in the discussion session.

BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said, "Our world is now experiencing unimaginable advancements of digital technology. In the upcoming days, Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, Quantum Computing, Biotechnology, Robotics, IOT, 5G, 3D printing and fully automated vehicle technology will radically change the world as we know now,"

Kabir said that BASIS along with its member organisations continued to play a significant role in this regard to get the nation ready.

The BASIS president also highlighted the steps taken by BASIS in the last one year to recover damaged businesses in the Covid-19 situation and thus create a business-friendly environment.

"BASIS Digital Shop" was launched at the 22nd Annual General Meeting.

BASIS member organisations, members and employees, anyone from home and abroad can make purchase from the shop through online and will also be able to enjoy special discounts.

The BASIS members called for continuing the ongoing activities and taking new initiatives for BASIS to play a stronger role.

Former BASIS presidents, former directors of BASIS, Standing committee members, Chairman and Co-chairmen's, Farhana A Rahman, Senior Vice President of BASIS, Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Director of BASIS, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Director of BASIS, Didarul Alam, Director of BASIS, Rashad Kabir, Director of BASIS and representatives from more than thousand member organisations of BASIS were also present.

The release said an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of BASIS was held at the same venue before the Annual General Meeting to amend the BASIS Code of Conduct.
