Jatiya Party has expelled its vice chairman Lutfur Reja Khokon, also a convener of Cumilla north district unit, from all the party posts in allegation of violation of the party discipline.

“Lufur Reja Khokon has been expelled from all posts of the party including primary membership,” said a press release of the party on Friday.

At the same time, the party also has dissolved its Cumilla north district unit convening committee.

“Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader has taken the decision as per section 20/1(1) of the party charter and the decision will be effective immediately,” the release added.

The party sources said Lutfur Reja Khokon has applied to withdraw his candidacy from the by-polls of Cumilla-7 constituency ignoring party decision.

Earlier, Khokon applied to Cumilla regional election official and district returning officer to withdraw his candidacy from the by-polls on Thursday, the sources added.
