Four killed in separate road accidents

At least four people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Bogra districts on Thursday and Friday.

In Chattogram, two people were killed in a road accident in the city’s Sagorika area on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as pedestrian Prasenjit Ghos, 25, of Patiya upazila in the district, and rickshaw-puller Anwar Hossain, 40, hailed from Joypurhat district.

Sources said the accident occurred as a covered van hit the pedestrian and rickshaw-puller in Sagorika intersection around 9:00pm.

The duo died on the spot in the accident, said Officer in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman of Pahartali police station.

Police recovered the body and sent those to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said. They also seized the vehicle but its driver somehow managed to flee the scene, he added.

In Bogura, two women were killed and four others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw on the Bogura-Rangpur Highway on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Anowara Begum, 45, and Hamidun Begum, 60. Both were the residents in the sadar upazila.

Police said the accident occurred at Jopgari highway. Injured six people were brought to TMSS Medical College and Hospital where the attending doctor declared Anowara and Hamidun Begum dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana Selim Reza confirmed the incident.
