Holidaymakers at Cox’s Bazar sea beach have been asked to follow some certain guidelines to remain safe while bathing in the world’s longest unbroken sea beach.
Local district administration issued the instructions amid a rise in the number of deaths of tourists drowning into the sea water. Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Dr Md Mamunur Rashid unveiled the instructions while inaugurating a 10-day long awareness campaign at Sugandha Point on the beach on Friday morning.
Strong currents and hidden holes can form in the sea at any moment. Therefore, for their own safety, the holidaymakers have to step into the sea water through the areas stipulated by duty lifeguards.
Additional District Magistrate Abu Sufian, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Zahid Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Human Resources) Nasim Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Bibhishan Kanti Das, executive magistrate of the district administration (tourism Cell), tour operators, fire service officials and members of various organisations, among others, were present in the programme.
