BNP plans strategy on next national polls

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) high command has planned to sit with grassroots leaders and professionals to decide the party’s political strategy ahead of the next general election.

The party acting chairman Tarique Rahman already held three-day long series meeting, which started on Tuesday, with  vice-chairmen, chairperson’s advisers, joint secretary generals and secretaries and top leaders of the party’s front and associate bodies. He took their opinion about next course of action.

“As part of the continuation of our organisational activities, our party acting chairman Tarique Rahman exchanged views with the party leaders about the current political situation of the country and party’s next political strategy,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He further said the party has also planned to sit with more members of its national executive committee, leaders of district units and professionals to take their opinion.

“BNP standing committee meeting which will be held on Saturday will take decision in this regard,” Fakhrul said.

After holding meeting with the leaders, the party is likely to hold mass rallies in district and divisional levels across the country in a bid to revamp the party men ahead of the next parliament election, BNP insiders said.

They also have planned to forge movement to realise their demands for holding the next parliament election under a neutral election commission and an election time non-party administration, the sources added.
