163 more hospitalised with dengue

The number of daily dengue cases has declined to below 200 in the last 24 hours as total number of the dengue cases has reached 4,872 in September this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 163 more dengue patients were hospitalised and no death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Friday morning.

It said 4,872 dengue patients were hospitalised in September, 7,698 dengue patients were hospitalised in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 11 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 140 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 23 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday. A total of 988 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 203 outside the city, it said.

The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 57 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least 67 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 15,228 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until September 17 this year.

So far, 13,980 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
