Bangladesh has reported 38 deaths and 1,907 infections from coronavirus over the last 24 hours till Friday morning, registering a fall in the fatalities and a slight rise in cases.
With this, the caseload has reached 1,540,110 while the national death toll stands at 27,147 with a case fatality rate of 1.76 percent and an overall infection rate of 16.40 percent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily positivity rate remained below 7 percent for the fourth consecutive day with 6.41 percent registered in the last 24 hours, a slight rise from Thursday’s 5.98 percent.
The infection rate was 6.64 percent on Wednesday and 6.54 percent on Tuesday.
Highest 264 virus deaths were recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while record 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
Highest corona deaths and infections in the last 24 hours were registered in Dhaka division. Of the 38 fresh deaths, 17 were reported in Dhaka division while seven in Chattogram, eight in Khulna, two in Rangpur, three in Sylhet and one death was logged in Mymensingh division. However, Rajshahi and Barishal divisions saw no death during the period.
Of the 1,376 new cases, 1,135 were logged in Dhaka division while 36 in Mymensingh, 154 in Chattogram, 76 in Rajshahi, 64 in Rangpur, 132 in Khulna, 31 in Barishal and 38 in Sylhet division.
A total of 29,756 samples, out of 30,169 collected, were tested at 808 labs in the country during the period. With this, 9,393,365 samples have so far been tested across the country.
