RAJSHAHI: A total of 76 more people were diagnosed with corona in all eight districts of the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 97,595 since the pandemic began in March last year.
The new daily infection figure is a significant falling trend compared to the previous day’s 132, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said.
The death toll reached 1,648, including 680 in Bogura, 308 in Rajshahi with 184 in its city, and 171 in Natore, as no fresh case of fatality was reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.
Besides, all the positive cases for corona have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 22,410 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 18,776 have been released.
Meanwhile, 98 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 134 others were released from isolation during the same time.
Of the 76 new cases, 22 were detected in Rajshahi including 17 in its city, followed by 14 in Pabna, 13 in Bogura, 11 in Sirajganj, seven in Chapainawabganj, five Naogaon and two each in Natore and Joypurhat districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 27,663 in Rajshahi, including 22,283 in its city, 5,583 in Chapainawabganj, 6,352 in Naogaon, 8,287 in Natore, 4,571 in Joypurhat, 21,355 in Bogura, 11,216 in Sirajganj and 12,568 in Pabna.
Of them, 1,08,667 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
