No Bangladesh airport among world’s top 100

No Bangladeshi airport could find a place on the list of world’s 100 best airports, says Skytrax.

Skytrax is a UK-based airline and airport review consultancy firm. Recently, it has listed the top 100 airports in 2021. The organisation publishes a list of the world’s best airports every year based on the quality of passenger service.

Several Indian and Bhutanese airports have been named on the list, but no airport in the country could reach the expected standard to make their place on the list of the top 100 airports, according to Skytrax.

Bangladeshi airports even failed to secure their names on the list of the best airports in Asia and South Asia.

The best airports in South Asia are Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Colombo, Kolkata, Paro, Karachi and Goa.

Top officials of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport or Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) did not want to make a comment in this regard.

According to Skytrax’s, the top five airports in the world are: Doha Hamad, Tokyo Haneda, Singapore Changi, Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita airports.

After retaining top position for eight years in a row, Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named third on the list this time.

Seven of the world’s top 10 airports on the list are located in Asia. Among these three are Japanese.

Last year, there were two European airports in the top ten. This year another European airport has been added on the list.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are given based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the 6-month survey period.

They are regarded as the quality benchmark for the world airport industry for assessing customer service and facilities across over 550 airports.  The survey and awards are independent of any airport control or inputs.

The survey evaluates traveller experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration to departure at the gate.

The World Airport Star Rating program is a global Quality-Evaluation-System for the Airport industry.

It uses a direct and professional analysis of Airport's Product and Service Quality Standards.

Skytrax launched its first global survey of airport customer service satisfaction in 1999.
