Ex-MP Fazlul Haq dies of dengue

Advocate Fazlul Haq Aspia, former lawmaker of Sunamganj-4 constituency and an advisor of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, died of dengue in the city’s Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on Wednesday. He was 84.

The former whip of Jatiya Sangsad was receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for the deadly fever for one month.

Aspia left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He will be buried following his namaz-e-janaza at Sunamganj Government Jubilee High School ground at around 2 pm on Thursday.

Aspia, also former president of BNP’s Sunamganj district unit, was elected as a Member of Parliament from Sunamganj-4 (Bishwambharpur-Sunamganj Sadar) constituency in the sixth, seventh and eighth national Parliamentary election.
