7 firms to set up RT PCR labs at Dhaka airport

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has selected seven companies to set up RT-PCR labs for conducting corona tests at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

A letter signed by the ministry’s senior assistant secretary Sarwar Alam confirmed the matter on Wednesday. 

A high-level technical committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recommended Stemz Health Care (BD) Ltd Dhaka, CSBF Health Center, AMZ Hospital Limited, Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Zainul Haque Sikder Women’s Medical College and Hospital, Gulshan Clinic Limited and DMFR Molecular Lab to set up the RT-PCR labs.

The Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment ministry approved all these seven companies to set up RT-PCR labs at the airport.

Among the seven firms, Stemz Health Care said it would be able to set up labs within three days. They have set the fee for the Covid-19 test at Tk 2000 while CSBF Health Center said it would take five days to set up the lab and it would charge Tk 1,850 for the Covid-19 test.

Besides, AMZ Hospital will be able to set up a lab in five days and charge Tk 1,800 for a sample test and Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital will be able to set up a lab in four days and they will charge Tk 2,000 per Covid-19 test.

Zainul Haque Sikder Women’s Medical College and Hospital has sought six days to set up the lab and their cost for each sample test will be Tk 1,700 while Gulshan Clinic Limited said that it will be able to set up a lab in five days and will charge Tk 1,750 for per test.

DMFR Molecular Lab and Diagnostics has told that they will set up lab within four days and one has to count Tk 2,300 for the Covid-19 test.

The letter said that the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has been instructed to provide space and offer other assistance to the seven selected firms for setting up RT-PCR labs at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport as per the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).
