A Dhaka court on Monday fixed September 20 to deliver the verdict in a case filed against Abdul Malek, a driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on charges of possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.

Judge Md Robiul Alam of Dhaka Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions judges court set the date for the delivery of the verdict, following the completion of closing argument of prosecution and defence.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Md Salahuddin Howlader said they expect the accused will get the capital punishment as the prosecution has been able to prove charges against him.

On the other hand, one of the defence lawyers said the prosecution failed to prove the charges brought against Malek in the arms case and they hope he will be acquitted.

Earlier, the tribunal recorded statements of 13 prosecution witnesses, including complainant of the case.
