The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number-3 as a low pressure area has formed over the central Bay and adjoining north Bay, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

“The low over central Bay and adjoining north Bay intensified into a well-marked low over the northwest Bay and adjoining west central Bay. It is likely to intensify further,” said a special bulletin of BMD.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and northeastwards to Assam across Bangladesh, it said.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over north Bay while squally weather may affect the maritime ports, north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
