BTCL paid Tk 137m dues to BTRC
BTCL Managing Director Rafiqul Matin hands over a cheque for Tk 137 million to BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder at BTRC headquarters in the capital on Sunday.

State-run Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) on Monday paid over Tk 137 million dues as international gateway (IGW) revenue sharing to the telecom regulator.

It was part of an audited outstanding revenue sharing of Tk 5.29 billion between fiscal year 2017 to FY2020. 

IGW operator by-passes interconnection exchange while transmitting international incoming voice calls to the networks of any access network service.

The BTCL paid the revenue sharing after deducting the source tax.  BTCL managing director Rafiqul Matin handed over a symbolic cheque to BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder at BTRC headquarters in the capital’s Ramna. The audit department of the government raised objection against the operator as BTRC owed Tk 5.29 billion to BTCL during the fiscal years 2017 to 2020.

BTRC vice chairman Subrata Roy Maitra, finance department director general Md Mesbahuzzaman, secretary Md Jahirul Islam, BTCL general managers Mir Mohammed Morshedand Md Mazharul Islam were present in the meeting. Regarding the audit, BTCL has applied to the telecom regulator to review the dues.
