RANGPUR: Three more persons died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today raising the death toll to 1,217 in the division.
"The Covid-19 situation continues improving with a declining positivity rate and increasing recovery rate in the division," said Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui on Saturday.
The district-wise breakup of the 1,217 death stands at 290 in Rangpur, 79 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 64 in Lalmonirhat, 66 in Kurigram, 246 in Thakurgaon, 322 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha.
The average casualty rate is now 2.25 percent in the division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,084 as 18 new patients were diagnosed after testing 220 samples with the daily positivity rate of 8.18 percent on Friday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 10.37 percent on Thursday, 7.07 percent on Wednesday, 8.46 percent on Tuesday, 11.17 percent on Monday, 9.79 percent on Sunday and 9.80 percent on Saturday last in the division.
The district-wise breakup of total 54,084 patients include 12,249 of Rangpur, 3,627 Panchagarh, 4,350 of Nilphamari, 2,711 of Lalmonirhat, 4,578 of Kurigram, 7,337 of Thakurgaon, 14,418 of Dinajpur and 4,814 of Gaibandha in the division.
In the meantime, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 49,911 with recovery of 48 more infected patients on Friday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 92.28 percent.
