The Primary Education Completion (PEC) examination will be held at the end of November or the early December on shortened syllabus if the coronavirus situation improves.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain on Monday came up with the information while talking to journalists at a press conference arranged at the Secretariat on the occasion of the International Literacy Day on September 8.

When asked whether there will be a final exam for this year’s PEC as the fifth grade students will have classes every day from September 12, the junior minister said, “Of course. It will be on the rearranged syllabus.”

When asked whether the PEC exam will be held on all the six subjects, Zakir Hossain said, “The situation will tell everything. If the situation allows, all six exams will be taken. We have preparations for holding the exams.”

The state minister also said there will also be an annual examination for primary level students this year.

After holding an inter-ministerial meeting, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Sunday said that all educational institutions at primary, secondary and higher secondary levels would be reopened from September 12.

She also said SSC and HSC candidates of this year along with fifth graders will have classes every day while students of other grades will attend in-person class once a week.

Dr Dipu Moni also said all would need to wear masks while students' body temperatures would be screened before they are allowed to enter classrooms and that physical distancing should be maintained properly.
