1.4m students to sit for HSC exams this year

A total of 14,07,60 students completed their form fill-up process this year to sit  Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent exams across the country.

Dhaka education board sources said a total of 14,07,60 students completed the HSC exams form fill-up, which was started on August 12 and ended on September 4.

A total of 3,07,478 students completed their form fill in Dhaka board, 66,978 students in Barishal Board, 96,812 in Chittagong board, 1,14,711 in Cumilla board, 1,13,306 in Dinajpur board, 1,28,456 in Jessore board, 69,307 in Mymensingh board, 1,46,469 in Rajshahi board, and 66,101 in Sylhet board.

Apart from this, a total of 1,11,137 students in Madrasah education board and 1,86,305 students in technical education board also completed their form fill-up to sit the exams this year.

The HSC and equivalents exams were scheduled to be started in April but it was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, all the 13,65,789 candidates passed the HSC and equivalent exams last year without sitting in exams as the tests could not held due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni recently said the SSC, HSC and equivalent exams of 2021 will be held in November and December this year, only if Covid-19 situation in the country improves.

She also said the exams will be taken on shortened syllabuses of three group-based elective subjects. For the rest of the subjects, the assessment will be done based on assignments.

However, if the Covid-19 situation is not under control within this time, results of SSC, HSC will be prepared based on the previous academic results of the students and their assignment copies, education minister added.
