Muggers snatched Tk2.5 million from a foreign currency trader at Siddhirganj of Narayanganj on Saturday noon.

One of the muggers shot passerby Nayem Hossain as he started screaming witnessing the incident. The bullet-hit Nayem was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station said, “Joynal Abedin, who is a foreign currency trader, withdrew Tk2.5 million from Motijheel Money Exchange Office. While he along with his cousin Mehedi Hasan was going to their home by their motorcycle, the muggers intercepted them in front of PDK Petrol Pump at Siddhirganj and snatched the bag of money at gunpoint. Joynal Abedin is a resident of Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj district.”

They shot passerby Nayem as he screamed witnessing the incident. Local people rescued him and rushed him to the hospital, said the officer.
