The body of Biman Bangladesh Airlines pilot Captain Nawshad Ataul Qaiyum, who passed away in a hospital in India on Monday, is likely to reach Dhaka on Thursday morning.

According to a source at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, while preparing this report on Wednesday evening, efforts were underway to complete all official formalities to take the body to Bangladesh.

The high commission sent an official to Nagpur to facilitate the process.

The body, kept at the mortuary of Kingsway Hospital, will be handed over to Bangladesh authorities after autopsy, the source added. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines source said that the national flag carrier is planning to re-route one of its Dhaka-bound flights from Doha to take a break at Nagpur for carrying the body of Nawshad.

Attempts are on to get a landing permission for the Biman flight at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur.

The Dhaka-Doha flight is scheduled to reach Nagpur at 5:00am (local time) on Thursday and it may reach Dhaka at around 8:30am (local time).

Two sisters of the deceased pilot, who are now in Nagpur, will accompany the corpse.
