Another consignment of over 5.5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Dhaka from China early Tuesday.
A Bangladesh Biman flight carrying the consignment of 55,53,650 doses of Sinopharm vaccine landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:10am. The consignment was received by Dr Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the Vaccine Deployment Committee at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
After the recent agreement, this consignment of 55,053,650 doses vaccines is the record for Bangladesh of receiving vaccines from China.
The vaccines will be distributed at district and upazila levels soon under the supervision of Beximco.
The DGHS sources said over 10 lakh Pfizer vaccines will arrive in the country from Covax facility at 5:00pm on Wednesday.
Bangladesh is now administering vaccines developed by four companies – AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Sinopharm.
