Bangladesh received an injury scare ahead of the upcoming T20 International series against New Zealand after all-rounder Afif Hossain was hit on his elbow at the indoor in Mirpur on Monday.

The left-handed batsman was injured while batting in the net as a sharp ball delivered by Taskin Ahmed came up from short of length and struck his elbow.

BCB physiotherapist Julian Calefeto rushed to Afif immediately and after assessing his situation urged him to leave the net. Afif came back to the dressing room along with Calefato, who asked Afif to do icing to recover from the pain.

“We can’t comment until tomorrow morning as we have to see how he feels in the morning but it does not seem to be serious,” said a BCB official.

Mushfiqur, who was also hit on his leg by Taskin on the same day, didn’t attend the fielding session under the floodlight later in the afternoon.
