Kamal off to Switzerland

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal left Dhaka on Saturday for Geneva, Switzerland to attend a meeting of LDCs.

He will attend Asia-Pacific Regional Review Meeting on the implementation of IPoA in preparation for the 5th UN Conference on the LDC (UNLDC-5). The meeting will be held from August 30 to September 02.

The finance minister will present different steps the government has taken to as part its preparation for LDC graduation, says a finance ministry release.

The meeting will discuss about a holding a meeting of 12 LDCs in Asia-Pacific region. Moreover, other international communities will evaluate their development targets in the meeting. At the same time, the meeting will also discuss ways how to return to development after the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of preparation for the upcoming 5th UN conference on LDCs in Doha, Bangladesh government and the UN has called Asia-Pacific a regional conference on January 23-27, 2022.

The issue of regional development in the region in the next decade and minimum sustainable development will also be discussed in the meeting.
