The coronavirus infection cases and fatalities have been declining across the country including in Dhaka day by day as the daily infection rate has reached around 12 percent.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 117 corona patients have died and 3,525 infection cases have been detected in the last 24 hours till Friday morning.
The death toll reported on Thursday was the lowest in 63 days as the single day deaths were reported below 77 on June 26. However, the death rate has risen to 1.74 percent.
The DGHS said the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
The number of total infections has risen to 14,86,153 with a daily positivity rate of 12.78 per cent while the overall infection rate has risen to 16.86 percent.
The single-day coronavirus infection positivity rate has dropped to 12.78 percent, which was the lowest in more than two months. The daily Covid-19 positivity rate was 13.77 percent on Thursday, 14.76 percent on Wednesday and 15.12 percent on Tuesday.
Besides, the national death toll has increased to 25,846 with a case fatality rate of 1.74 per cent. The DGHS said the coronavirus situation is the worst in the capital as the highest corona deaths and infections were registered in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours.
Of the 3,525 new cases, 1,613 were logged in Dhaka division while 87 in Mymensingh, 732 in Chattogram, 206 in Rajshahi, 244 in Rangpur, 313 in Khulna, 142 in Barishal and 188 in Sylhet division.
Around 6,485 corona patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,404,370. The recovery rate has stood at 94.50 percent.
A total of 27,578 samples, out of 27,294 collected, were tested at 789 labs in the country during the period. With this, 88,16,343 samples have so far been tested across the country.
