Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has now become the mouthpiece of the defeated communal forces.
“They (BNP) serve as the mouthpiece for the communal evil forces who were defeated in the War of Liberation,” he said.
The minister virtually joined the discussion marking National Mourning Day from his official residence in the capital.
Quader made the remark as BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul claimed that Awami League does not have the spirit of War of Liberation. The AL leader said BNP’s statement has once again made their anti-independence character clear to the countrymen. “Listening to the statements of the BNP leaders, it seems that they are suffering from the post-Covid complications. Staying with the defeated evil forces and carrying out politics with the clique, they are suffering from complications with regard to the spirit of War of Liberation,” he said.
The AL general secretary thinks that the BNP has forgotten its identity and position while pursuing the politics and interests of the defeated evil forces.
“You have given the opportunity to the defeated forces of the War of Liberation to do politics in this country. You have given the defeated forces the opportunity to hoist the flag on their cars in the independent country,” he said.
“Where was your multi-faceted consciousness then?” he asked.
