Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held today at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital.
It will be the first BCB AGM since BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon was re-elected for the post in November 2017 and he started his second term as an elected president.
The last BCB AGM was held on October 2, 2017.
According to a BCB press release, the AGM session will start at 12:00pm where a total of 166 BCB councillors from divisional and district sports bodies, Dhaka clubs, educational institutes and services are expected to attend the ceremony.
BCB has arranged financial incentives as well as laptops for the councillors for attending the AGM and the councillors living outside Dhaka already reached the capital to attend the meeting, as per several reports.
“We always tried (to arrange the AGM every year) but we couldn’t arrange the AGM in the past years due to several problems,” BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters in Mirpur on Wednesday.
“We had tried to arrange it this July but we still couldn't do it because of the Covid-19 restrictions. Finally, we have finalised a date and our preparations have been completed,” he added.
BCB boss Nazmul’s second term as an elected president is set to end in September this year and according to the constitution, the board will have to arrange their election within the next 45 days.
Nazmul is expected to run for the BCB president yet again and at the moment there is no one around to challenge him for the top BCB post.
