Ivy Rahman’s 17th death anniv today

The 17th death anniversary of Ivy Rahman, former president of Mahila Awami League and wife of late President Zillur Rahman, will be observed today.

Marking the day, different political and socio-cultural organisations, including Awami League, its associate bodies and other likeminded organisations, will hold elaborate programmes.

The programmes include placing wreaths and offering fateha at her grave in the capital’s Banani graveyard, arranging milad mahfil, special prayers and holding discussions in the capital and elsewhere throughout the country.

Central leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies will pay tributes to Ivy Rahman, also former women affairs secretary of Awami League central working committee, by placing wreaths at her grave following health guidelines.

They will also offer fateha and doa seeking eternal peace of her departed soul.

Ivy Rahman, also former president of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, received fatal injuries during a horrendous grenade attack on an AL rally on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on August 21 in 2004 and succumbed to her injuries on August 24.
