Work for building ‘Sonar Bangla’

Dipu Moni urges teachers, students

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has urged the teachers and students to play their effective role in building a developed and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“We are working under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a non-communal, hunger and poverty free, developed and prosperous Bangladesh along the people of all walks of life,” she said.

The education minister came up with the remarks while addressing a webinar as the chief guest on Monday, marking the National Mourning Day and 46th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Association of the Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) arranged the programme.

Dipu Moni said, “We have to make real golden people through practicing knowledge of ethics in the educational institutions and then, they will build the Bangabandhu’s dreamt ‘Sonar Bangla’.” After 1975, the generation has been raised in a darkness of history. That is why, they did not get a chance to know the true history of Bangladesh till 1996, she added.

APUB Chairman Sheikh Kabir Hossain presided over the event where Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nawfel, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah, Bangladesh Accreditation Council Chairman Prof Mesbahuddin Ahmed and Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain also spoke, among others.
