Two fraudsters held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime drive, detained two fraudsters from Natore district on Sunday night.

RAB sources said the arrested persons were identified as Selim Murshed, 35, son of Siddiqur Rahman of Haludghar village and Ershad Ali, 34, son of Sohrab Ali Master of Gopalpur village, both under Santhia upazila in Pabna district.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid in Gopal Union Parishad area under Gopalpur Upazila and arrested them. The team also seized a fake RAB identity card, fake police identity card, a motorbike with a police sticker, three credit cards and other illegal documents and goods from their possessions.

RAB Company Commander Major Sanria Chowdhury said the arrested persons had been collecting tolls from businessmen through personifying them as RAB men at different areas for a long time.

A case was recorded with Lalpur Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to police this morning, he added.
