CUJ condemns case against editors, journalists

CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) has condemned the filing of a case against editors and journalists of three newspapers, a news channel and an online news portal by Whip and lawmaker from Chattogram-12 constituency (Patiya) Shamsul Haque Chowdhury.

In a statement, CUJ President Mohammad Ali and General Secretary M Shamsul Islam termed the case filed against the eminent editors and journalists a matter of grave concern.

Such case is a threat to free journalism, media and security of the journalists, they observed. The CUJ leaders also demanded immediate withdrawal of the case.

The accused in the case include Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Vice-president Reaz Hyder Chowdhury and CUJ Members Mohammad Selim and SM Rana.
