The numbers of both Covid-19 deaths and infection cases have been declining day by day as the daily infection cases have also declined to near 20 percent in the last few days.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 174 corona patients have died and 6,959 infection cases have been detected in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.
The death toll reported on Monday is the lowest in 24 days as the country saw over 200 daily deaths for straight 20 days since 24 July.
Among the 174 deceased, 90 were men and 84 were women. Of them, one was between 11-20 years of age, three were between 21-30, 12 between 31-40, 21 between 41-50, 41 between 51-60, 52 between 61-70, 33 within 71-80, seven between 81-90 and three between 91-100 and one over 100 years old.
It said the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
The number of total infections has risen to 14,25,861 with a daily positivity rate of 21.08 per cent while the overall infection rate has risen to 16.89 percent.
Besides, the national death toll has increased to 24,349 with a case fatality rate of 1.71 per cent.
Some 3,764 corona patients died and 1,76,377 cases have been reported in the last 16 days of August.
Earlier, a total of 3,36,226 people were infected with the virus and 6,182 corona patients died across the country in July which is the highest compared to any same period during the pandemic.
The DGHS said the coronavirus situation is worst in the capital as the highest corona deaths and infections were registered in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours. Of the 174 fresh deaths, 70 were reported in Dhaka division while 37 in Chattogram, 17 in Rajshahi, 19 in Khulna, 11 in Mymensingh, seven in Rangpur, six in Sylhet and seven in Barishal division.
Of the 6,959 new cases, 4,170 were logged in Dhaka division while 255 in Mymensingh, 1159 in Chattogram, 361 in Rajshahi, 100 in Rangpur, 368 in Khulna, 187 in Barishal and 359 in Sylhet division.
Around 9,268 corona patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,301,966. The recovery rate has stood at 91.31 percent.
A total of 33,015 samples, out of 31,804 collected, were tested at 717 labs in the country during the period. With this, 84,41,536 samples have so far been tested across the country.
