National Mourning Day-2021 was observed in Bangladesh missions abroad on Sunday by paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the 46th anniversary of his martyrdom.
The day’s programme began by placing wreaths at the portrait of the architect of the country's independence in various missions around the world.
According to the messages received from embassies in Washington DC, Beijing, Moscow, Toronto, Mexico, Brazil, Canberra, Seoul, Brussels, Madrid, Manila, Islamabad, Tashkent, Colombo, Riyadh, Doha, Athens, Vienna, the Hague, Copenhagen, Geneva, Paris, Rome, Ankara, Manama, Cairo, Abuja, Rabat, Brunei Darussalam, Khartoum, Kathmandu, Male, Permanent Mission to UN in New York, Bangladesh Consulate General in New York and Kunming and Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu was observed with respect and due solemnity.
After placing wreaths, ambassadors, high commissioners and chiefs of consulates, missions along with diplomats stood in solemn silence for some time showing profound respect to the great leader.
At the Bangladesh embassy in Japan, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Rasel and Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed along with embassy officials and employees paid homage to Father of the Nation by laying a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Bangladesh embassy in Manila observed the 46th martyrdom anniversary with due solemnity and deep respect.
Besides, Consul General at Consulate General of Bangladesh, Istanbul Mohammad Monirul Islam at a programme remembered the Father of the Nation and all the martyrs with deep respect.
