The dengue situation has deteriorated this month as 3,442 dengue patients have been hospitalised in the country in the last 15 days.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 198 more dengue patients were hospitalised in the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
The DGHS data said over 100 single-day dengue patients were hospitalised for 23 consecutive days till Sunday and over 200 for 14 consecutive days in 24 hours till Saturday morning.
The DGHS said 189 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and nine patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Sunday.
A total of 960 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 89 outside the city, it said.
The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 25 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.
But the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control & Research (IEDCR) didn’t confirm the deaths from dengue yet.
A total of 6,100 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until August 15 this year.
According to the DGHS data, a total of 1,405 dengue patients were detected across the country from January 1 to December 31, 2020. The IEDCR confirmed seven deaths from dengue last year.
The dengue situation had taken a dangerous turn in 2019 when over one lakh dengue patients were hospitalised and around 179 deaths were reported.
