CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court on Thursday granted a one-day remand for the two youths arrested for taking vaccine at residence with help of a lab technician of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).

The arrestees were identified as Md Hasan, 28, and Mobarak Ali, 30, of Khulshi area.

The court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Hossain Mohammad Reza granted the remand after police produced the accused before it with five-day remand prayer, said officer in-charge (OC) Md Shahinuzzaman of Khulshi police station.

Mentionable, police arrested the duo after a photo of receiving Covid-19 vaccine at residence spread on social media on Monday.

However, Lab Technician Bishnu Dey who supplied the vaccine and administered at residence and another vaccine recipient Sazzad were not arrested despite CCC filed a case accusing four persons earlier.

The accused technician worked as temporary health worker at Alhaj Mostafa-Hakim Maternity Hospital in the city’s City Gate area.

Meanwhile, the CCC suspended the lab technician on Tuesday in connection with the unauthorised vaccination at residence of a youth.

CCC also formed a five-member probe committee to investigate into the matter.

Sources said Hasan uploaded the picture of receiving vaccine on facebook and wrote a post mentioning that he received first dose of Moderna vaccine at his residence with help of one Mobarak on Saturday.
