Journo Ariful dies of corona

Ariful Islam Dalim, Chuadanga district correspondent of Jamuna Television, Desh Rupantar and UNB, died of coronavirus on Thursday. He was 39.

He breathed his last around 2.30pm on the day while he was on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

According to family sources, Dalim took the first dose of corona vaccine on June 19 but he was tested positive for the deadly virus on July 23.

Later, on July 26, he was admitted to the HDU of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. His family was taking him to Asgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday morning but his condition deteriorated on the way. He was then admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar where he was declared dead.

He left behind his parents, wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.

Ariful Islam Dalim began his career in 1999 through Gramer Kagoj in Jashore. In the later years, he worked for RTV, Ekushey TV, SA TV and daily Amar Desh.

Dalim was also the executive editor of the local daily Akash Khabar. He was the joint general secretary of the Chuadanga branch of the journalists’ association and the general secretary of the district press club.
