‘Zia’s involvement undoubtedly true’

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said there is no doubt that Ziaur Rahman was involved in the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The evidence for Ziaur Rahman’s involvement in the Bangabandhu assassination would be made public through forming a commission, said Anisul Huq while talking to journalists at his Gulshan residence in the capital.

He said when the assassination was investigated, Ziaur Rahman was not charged as he was dead. There is no scope to accuse any dead person as there is no provision for posthumous punishment as per the law of the land.

The law minister said Sheikh Hasina’s government is committed to bringing back the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu and executing court’s verdict.

“The process of bringing back the killers is underway. If we go into detail, there will be some problems in this process. The government is trying to bring back the killers.”

The minister said not only his government but also the Awami League will continue to exist even if one follower of Bangabandhu survives.

He said, “It is clear that those who committed the killing were not only involved in the murders. There was also a conspiracy and those conspirators at least need to be unmasked.”
