All set to observe Nat’l Mourning Day in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH: All preparations have been completed to observe the National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner here on August 15.

In observance of the day the district administration, various government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, socio-cultural and voluntary organisations and educational institutions have chalked out elaborate programmes following strict health guidelines.

Programmes of the day include - hoisting of National flag at half-mast in all public, private buildings and educational institutions, placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu in Circuit house area at 8am. Besides, painting and essay competition and poem recitation on Bangabandhu will be held virtually. An art exhibition will also be held featuring rare photographs of Bangabandhu.

Special prayers will be offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as other martyrs of the August 15 carnage at all mosques, temples, churches and pagodas.

Meanwhile the district administration has already set up digital billboards in all government offices for screening the day’s programmes.

All upazila parisads, local Awami League unit and socio-cultural organisations will observe the day with due respect through various programmes.
