CHATTOGRAM: The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) authorities on Tuesday suspended a lab technician in connection with the unauthorised vaccination at a residence in the city.

The accused was identified as Bishnu Dey, a temporary health worker at Alhaj Mostafa-Hakim Maternity Hospital in the city’s City Gate area.

Besides, the CCC also formed a five-member probe committee to dig into the matter.

CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud confirmed this saying that they were also working to identify other persons involved with the vaccination process. The committee was asked to submit a report within three working days, he added.

However, Bishnu and another vaccine recipient Sazzad were not arrested despite CCC filed a case accusing four persons earlier.

Police arrested two youths after a photo of receiving Covid-19 vaccine from Bishnu at a residence spread on social media on Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Md Hasan, 28, and Mobarak Ali, 30, of Khulshi area.

Sources said Hasan uploaded the picture of receiving vaccine on facebook and wrote a post mentioning that he received first dose of Moderna vaccine at his residence with help of one Mobarak on Saturday. The picture went viral and earned huge criticism.
