The ruling Awami League on Tuesday condemned and protested against the incident of communal attack on Hindus in Shiali village under Rupsha upazila of Khulna.
“We strongly protest against the attack and vandalism on the temple, houses and shops with looting their property,” said Obaidul Quader, Awami League general secretary.
“Bangladesh is a secular country. Any attack on any religious community is not acceptable here,” the statement reads.
Mentioning the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against the violators of communal harmony, Quader said no perpetrators involved with the incident would be spared.
“Some of the attackers have already been arrested and exemplary punishment will be ensured,” he further added.
